Negros clashes force evacuation

BACOLOD CITY: Renewed armed fighting between government forces and suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels in separate incidents on Wednesday in Cauayan and Sipalay City in southern Negros Occidental has forced the evacuation of about 530 residents.

The running gunbattles and pursuit operations took place at the boundary of Sipalay City and Cauayan.
