The factors driving egg-flation

THERE is an egg price surge in Metro Manila and many parts of Luzon. This is extremely unfortunate, especially for low-income earners. With vegetable prices soaring and the cost of meat prohibitive, the staple food of low-income Filipinos is mostly rice, eggs, dried fish and instant noodles. All-day eggs is what we in the low-income brackets call the mandatory menu for the day. Definitely, the egg price surge was missed by the last reported inflation rate of 8.1 percent.
