'New' Miss Universe format unfolds

A 'new' Miss Universe format will unfold as 84 women vie for the coveted Miss Universe crown today, beamed to the world from the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in Louisiana.

Sixteen candidates from the pool will be announced at the start of the pageant, including the winner of the online votes. Judging for the Top 16 is based on the closed-door interviews and preliminary competition that happened on Thursday in the same venue.
