A RENEWABLE energy expert believes that nipa alcohol or nipahol can help lower the cost of gasoline in the country.

Dr. Fiorello Abenes, professor emeritus of the California State Polytechnic University who is now in the Philippines, is pushing for the use of the nipahol developed by the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) to produce gasoline blend that is up to 15 percent ethanol by volume (E15).
