Decision to stop sale of onions at Kadiwa temporary—DA exec

A ranking official of the Department of Agriculture (DA) on Friday said that the decision to stop the sale of P170 per kilo of onions at the Kadiwa centers was temporary as the DA is now finalizing the agreement with the Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) for the second cycle of the procurement of the bulbs.

In a radio interview, Agriculture Assistant Secretary and spokesman Kristine Evangelista said that the FTI is eyeing to source the onions from other farmers' cooperatives amid an investigation by the Office of the Ombudsman after the DA procured the bulbs from Bonena Multipurpose Cooperative at P537 per kilo but sold them at the Kadiwa stores for P170 per kilo.
