Pagasa warns of flooding in parts of PH

THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday issued a warning to residents in areas in Visayas, Mindanao, and Bicol Region to take extra precaution against possible flooding and landslides brought about by the nonstop rainfall.

Pagasa weather forecaster Patrick del Mundo told The Manila Times that the days of rain due to the shear line — the point where the cold and warm air converge — and a low pressure area (LPA) may cause flooding and landslides in these areas.

FLOODWATER Continuous rains since Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, have flooded many villages in Zamboanga City, affecting thousands of families. According to Pagasa, the flooding was brought about by the shear line and a low pressure area in the region. PHOTO BY AL JACINTO
