Virtual assistants or virtual slaves?

ACCORDING to a recent eye-opening story by Business Insider, there is growing discontent among workers in one of the most successful segments of the Philippines' business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, that of virtual assistants. While the workers' complaints of low pay are certainly justified, solving the issue without ruining the sector's world-leading position and causing considerable harm to the workers and the overall economy will be a complex and difficult challenge.
