THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on Wednesday said that the ban on the consumption and sale of shellfish in at least 10 areas in the country is in effect because of the presence of red tide toxins.
In its latest advisory, BFAR said that covered by the shellfish ban include coastal waters of Milagros in Masbate; coastal waters of Panay, President Roxas, and Pilar in Capiz; coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; Irong-irong Bay and San Pedro Bay in Samar; Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; and Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur.
