Local officials' group backs police cleansing

DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin 'Benhur' Abalos Jr. has found another ally in his call to rid the Philippine National Police (PNP) of members involved in illegal drugs.

The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) said drug abuse is a complex problem that has evolved into a chronic health disorder and takes a heavy toll on families and communities.
