IF there is one misfortune that can be said the Covid-19 pandemic has not visited upon the Filipino nation, it is that the cost of electricity has gone beyond reach of the ordinary Filipino. The topic suddenly stirs my interest now that I am done with the last tranche of payment programmed for settling my huge indebtedness to Meralco incurred since 2020. How huge? Huge enough to have required the entire cash component of the Awards for Promoting Philippine-China Understanding given me in October last year to pay off only just half of the indebtedness, with the other half funded by this and that writing and a hodgepodge of otherwise odd undertakings.
Anyway, after what appeared eons of struggling to settle the account, 2023 began finally with my slate with Meralco clean.
