Stocks mixed as traders consider China reopening

HONG KONG: Asian and European markets closed mixed on Wednesday as investors weighed China's reopening moves against its surging coronavirus cases, while recession concerns and a drop on Wall Street kept sentiment grounded.

China's shift out of almost three years of its zero-Covid policy has been widely welcomed, but the breakneck speed at which authorities have lifted restrictions has led to an explosion of cases across the East Asian country, pounding its economy anew.
