PRESIDENT Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. dismissed the charges of grave misconduct, gross dishonesty and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the services against officials who have been linked to the foiled importation of 300,000 metric tons (MT) of refined sugar.
In a 10-page resolution signed on Dec. 29, 2022, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin absolved former Agriculture senior undersecretary Leocadio Sebastian, former Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) administrator Hermenegildo Serafica and former SRA board members Roland Beltran and Aurelio Gerardo Valderrama Jr.
