Nuclear power pushed as fuel costs rise

THE House Special Committee on Nuclear Energy has started deliberating a bill that calls for the development of nuclear power, including the possible revival of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) in Bataan, amid rising global coal prices.

Pangasinan Rep. Mark Cojuangco, who chairs the panel, said the country should not depend merely on renewable energy as a means of improving the energy mix.
