NEWCOMERS continue to challenge established telecommunications companies like Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) and Globe Telecom Inc. (Globe).

For mobile, OpenSignal's Dec. 15, 2022 report revealed that telco newcomer Dito Telecommunity Corp (DITO) was first or joint first with regard to Core Consistent Quality in 15 regions. Smart was not the outright top scorer in any region, but its users tied for the highest Core Consistent Quality in eight regions, including Central Luzon. It surpassed its original goal of 12 million subscribers in 2022.
