STA.ROSA, Laguna: Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp., will be placed on heightened alert for the expected motorist surge on the upcoming holiday rush. With the holidays fast approaching, the toll road operator foresees a 10 to 15 percent increase in traffic volume this December for its two concession expressways, the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) including its C5 Link segment, and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (Calax). MPT South will reinforce 'Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko,' the motorist assistance program mobilized during holiday peaks, across its high-speed road networks. For Cavitex and C5 Link, this will be done in partnership with its joint-venture partner, Philippine Reclamation Authority through its operating subsidiary, PEA Tollways Corp. Starting 6 a.m. of December 23 until 6 a.m. of December 26 and 6 a.m. of Jan. 1, 2023 until 6 a.m. of Jan. 3, 2023, under the program, towing service for Class 1 vehicles is free up to the nearest exit. It will intensify 24/7 customer service and will augment additional manpower on grounds such as RFID lane assist, ambulant tellers in the cash lane, and traffic operations personnel. The emergency medical service and incident response team will also be on standby 24/7. During this period, construction works along the main line will also be suspended, except for emergency repairs.
