SAMAL, Bataan: The local government here and the provincial government on Wednesday started distributing packs of food items for Christmas in the town's 14 villages. The 'Pamaskong Handog' led by Samal Mayor Alexander Acuzar and Vice Mayor Ronnie Ortiguerra with members of the Sangguniang Bayan made the rounds of the village where long lines of beneficiaries waited for their turn. In Barangay Sta. Lucia, the distribution was done by sitio (site) to avoid overcrowding. 'This is important for people like me, who have been living by themselves. I am grateful. Merry Christmas!' said Florita Iglesias of Sitio Centro in Filipino after receiving her food items. Barangay Chairman Ruperto Forbes of Sta. Lucia thanked Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd and Acuzar for the gift to his constituents four days before Christmas. 'Gift-giving has been a very good tradition that we hope the future generations will continue to cherish,' said Acuzar.
