NHA taps Maya for online payments

(UPDATE) THE National Housing Authority (NHA) announced on Thursday that it has signed a memorandum of agreement with Maya Philippines that will enable the public to pay their monthly amortizations and other fees online.

The agreement was signed by NHA General Manager Joeben Tai and Ma. Rocielo Nuñez of Maya Philippines Inc.

NHA will have its pilot digital payments through Maya in special housing projects in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) and in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Beneficiaries from these selected housing projects would be able to pay their monthly amortization payments and other fees through the Maya Bills Payment Service or the Maya app.

Aside from making payments, the service will also issue billing notices and remittances of collected payments through email or SMS (short message service) notifications to the beneficiaries.

Tai explained that the NHA's decision to adopt the online payment option was in relation to Republic Act (RA) 8792 or the 'Electronic Commerce Act of 2000' that mandates all government agencies to accept payments through electronic means.

He also cited RA 11032 or the 'Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018' which mandates all offices and agencies to improve their transactions and procedures.
