THE life story of Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip is the stuff of inspirational books. The eldest child of a poor Thai-Chinese family which owned a video rental store in Bangkok, she was encouraged by her parents to learn English. She studied at an all-male school and was bullied.

One of her teachers even sexually harassed her because of her gender identity. And her parents were not supportive at all.
