THE Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) expects a 7 to 8 percent increase in cargo volume and sees passenger traffic growth momentum to continue in 2023 as the country's ports continue their operations with strong activity levels.

PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said in a recent press conference: "We are very optimistic on ports; we're still looking at 7 to 8 percent growth in cargo volume. We projected growth in passenger traffic, but we're surprised that from 2021 to 2022, we had a 200 to 220 percent increase."
