Navy, Customs intercept 2B liters of unmarked fuel

JOINT operatives of the Bureau of Customs (BoC)-Port of Davao and the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao intercepted an estimated 2 billion liters of 'unmarked' fuel loaded in a domestic shipping vessel at the Hijo Port in Tagum City.

In a report to Customs Commissioner Yogi Felimon Ruiz, port officials disclosed that field and confirmatory laboratory tests confirmed the absence of the required fuel marker, an inert chemical added to fuel after payment of customs duties and taxes. This proves that the shipment is deemed illegal or smuggled, and subject to seizure.
