THE Baguio chapter of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) has called for the decriminalization of cyberlibel after the conviction of journalist Frank Cimatu on Tuesday.

"The fight to protect journalists from undue harm and harassment resonates stronger with colleagues bearing the brunt of the backlash of political issues," the NUJP said in a statement posted on their Facebook page on Tuesday. "The National Union of Journalists Baguio-Benguet Chapter renews the call to decriminalize libel and demands journalists be remanded a safe space to practice freedom of expression."
