IN spite of being a major economic contributor in the country, Region 3 (Central Luzon) is home to at least 270,456 households identified as poor, based on the Regional Profile of the Poor as reported by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
According to DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations Venus Rebuldela, the figure represents 17.88 percent of the total 1,512,928 households assessed through house-to-house interviews conducted in the region.
