BALBALAN, Kalinga: Government security forces were able to discover an alleged arms cache of communist rebels containing war materials during an aggressive anti-insurgency operation at Mabacca, here, recently. Combined police and military personnel reportedly acted on a piece of information provided by a concerned citizen on the existence of an alleged hideout and training camp of those believed to be members of the Komiteng Larangan Guerilla (KLG) Baggas operating in the Cagayan Valley and some parts of the Cordillera. Upon arrival in the said area, the operatives discovered the rebels' arms cache containing a Colt M16 A1; four magazines; two Garand rifles; five magazine clips; 27 pieces of 7.62 mm live ammunition; a Carbine rifle; three improvised explosive devices; two M203 live ammunition; three rifle grenades; two sticks of ammonium nitrate; a 60mm live ammunition; and a mortar ammunition. Also seized were some subversive documents, NPA flags, and other personal belongings and accouterments. Meanwhile, the operating troops searched the adjacent areas of the encampment for the possible recovery of other explosive devices.
