Rampant smuggling is costing the government at least P250 billion per year, an alliance of industries claimed on Tuesday, depriving the country of funds that can be used for basic and welfare needs.
Globally, contraband goods account for $870 billion in annual losses based on Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development data, FIGHT Illicit Trade (FIGHT IT) Chairman Jesus Arranza said in press briefing.
