THE International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) called for the revision of the International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) Strategy, setting a zero emission target by 2050.

IAPH Technical Director Antonis Michail said: "As climate science demonstrates, for the world to stay on a 1.5 degress Celsius pathway, international shipping needs to decarbonize by 2050 at the latest. IAPH supports all proposals calling for phasing out CO2 emissions from shipping by 2050, and the setting of respective intermediate targets for 2030 and 2040 to define a predictable pathway."
