BRUSSELS, Belgium: President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday met with European Union (EU) transport officials as a follow-up to his earlier promise that the Philippines will comply with the standards set by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) for Filipino seafarers.
In his lengthy discussion with the International Maritime Employers Council (IMEC) here, the Chief Executive ordered the creation of an advisory board with government agencies with the training, certification, and deployment of Filipino seafarers to different parts of the world, international shipowners, and other stakeholders to address the flagged deficiencies which risk seamen from the Philippines being barred from being hired in this part of the world.
