Farmers' group opposes RCEP

FARMERS' group Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (Sinag) on Monday opposed the country's move to participate in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), saying trade agreements resulted to 24.9-percent agricultural imports in 2021 or a total value of $15.71 billion.

Sinag Executive Director Jayson Cainglet said he articulated the group's position during the hearing of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations chaired by Sen. Maria Imelda Josefa 'Imee' Marcos on the proposed membership of the Philippines to RCEP.
