SMGP claims govt contract for Malampaya banked gas

San Miguel Global Power (SMGP) said that it has taken note of the statements made by the Malampaya consortium on the issue of the supply of 70 petajoules (PJ) in banked gas from Malampaya that South Premiere Power Corp. (SPPC) acquired from the Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) in June 2022.

The subsidiary said that while the group sought to communicate, among other things, that there is no 'live contract' for Malampaya gas between SPPC and the consortium, SMGP said that SPPC bought the Malampaya banked gas owned by the government through PNOC for $1.2 billion.
