Maharlika conundrum

THE EMPIRICIST

THANK you to ANC for inviting me again and discussing the proposed Maharlika Fund. As I noted, the discussion in the media has been quite robust for a change and often refreshingly substantial at times. I don't wish to echo the many learned views I agree with or take issue with, so I hope to discuss complementary aspects of the proposed fund that were not emphasized by others.

There are issues that must be decided on and threshed out. The first are the contradictory goals of various proponents and critics on what the fund should be and not be. The second is the history and nature of these funds. Lastly, is the expertise required to run whatever fund may be decided upon.
