FARMERS' group Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (Sinag) on Thursday said the government has lost at least P15 billion in revenues this year because of the entry of P25.4 billion worth of smuggled pork and chicken into Philippine markets.
"At least P25 billion of smuggled pork products and at least P400 million worth of smuggled chicken entered the country," Sinag President Rosendo So told The Manila Times, adding the government's losses amounted to P11 billion for pork and P4 billion for chicken.
