Lawyer, former regent named UP president

THE University of the Philippines (UP) has named lawyer and former regent Angelo Jimenez as its 22nd president, its official publication, the Philippine Collegian and its other publications across the system confirmed on Friday after a 2-hour meeting with the university's Board of Regents at the Quezon Hall of its Diliman campus.

Jimenez was selected over Dr. Patrick Azanza, Salvador B. Belaro, Jr., Dr. Fidel Nemenzo, Dr. Benito Pacheco and Dr. Fernando Sanchez, Jr. to succeed Danilo Concepcion next year.
