A ranking official of the Department of Agriculture (DA) on Wednesday confirmed that three container vans containing sacks of smuggled white and red onions and frozen carrots were intercepted by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) at Port of Subic in Zambales.
In a radio interview, Agriculture Deputy Spokesman Rex Estoperez added that the DA, BoC and other concerned agencies are now monitoring other ports as more smuggled onions are expected to arrive in the country.
