Lingayen gets new evacuation center 

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan: The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) formally turned over a multi-purpose evacuation center to Barangay Pangapisan in Lingayen town recently.The inauguration of the P50-million two-story emergency building, equipped with advanced and modern facilities such as kitchen and storage areas, toilet and shower rooms for males and females, and lactating rooms for nursing mothers, was a welcome development for thousands of families in the said municipality.The ceremony was attended by Pagcor officials including Vice President Ramon Stephen Villaflor, and Assistant Vice Presidents Carmelita Valdez and Eric Balcos.The local government unit of Lingayen welcomed the establishment of the building under the leadership of Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil, Vice Mayor Mac Dexter Malicdem, and the entire Sangguniang Bayan.According to Mayor Bataoil, the town of Lingayen is fortunate to be among the areas that have been helped by Pagcor.'I have seen even the most remote places in the country, which your agency supported. We appreciate this kind gesture of yours to help our people, especially the vulnerable ones,' added the mayor.Rev. Fr. Emil Soriano led the blessing of the building. The barangay (village) chiefs were also in full force with their barangay rescue vehicles to show support and solidarity with the occasion.The Pagcor building will extend shelters to disaster-prone villages during strong typhoons and floods.
