PNP orders gun training for safety

IN the wake of an accident involving a policeman accidentally firing his service firearm and killing a fellow officer in San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. has ordered all police commanders to ensure their men are adept on gun handling.

Cpl. George Mervin Cañete Duran, who was assigned with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) of the San Pablo City police station, accidentally fired his service firearm on Nov. 24, 2022, shooting and killing Cpl. Frank Alden Yasay de la Cruz.
