THE 26th National Press Congress is set on December 6 to 8 at the Pearlmont Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City, with Department of Science and Technology (DoST) Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. as keynote speaker. Themed 'Collaborative Media Groups' Support to Government Towards Enhanced National Food Security, Economic Recovery, and Socio-Economic Welfare,' the three-day media convergence will be led by the Publishers Association of the Philippines Inc. (PAPI). PAPI president Nelson Santos noted that the activity will highlight the significant role of media as a prime mover toward the country's inclusive growth that will contribute to the realization of the theme. It will be staged in cooperation with the DoST Region 10 office, the local governments of the province of Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro, and in partnership with the Philippine Press Institute, Philippine Online Broadcasters Association, Mindanao Independent Press Council and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas. Included in the attendees for the activity are PAPI regular members most of whom are community newspaper publishers, and the organization's associate members like media executives, editors, broadcasters, reporters and campus journalists across the country.
