ONE of the notable tweets I read this week was from Sen. JV Ejercito, who reported that traffic was so bad that he decided to walk with his son to school. According to Senator JV, the walk was a great way for them to bond.
All over the country, getting kids to school has become more and more difficult. Ask any parent with school-age children: it is one of their main sources of stress. Public transportation is in short supply at a time when pre-pandemic travel demand is returning; fares have also increased. With heavy congestion on our roads, what used to be a tolerable car, tricycle or jeepney ride is now taking twice as long or worse. For those using private motor vehicles, high fuel costs have become a major burden.
