TOKYO: Nintendo recorded a 34-percent profit surge in the first half of the fiscal year on strong sales of products for its Switch console like the paint-shooting game "Splatoon 3," the Japanese video game maker reported on Tuesday.

That prompted the maker of the "Pokemon" and "Super Mario" games to raise its income forecast for the April 2022 to March 2023 fiscal year to 400 billion yen ($2.7 billion) from an earlier projection of 340 billion yen ($2.3 billion).
