LAST-MINUTE bargain hunting allowed the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) to end Friday in the green after being weighed down for most of the day by October inflation results.

The benchmark index, which fell to an intraday low of 6,083.50 during the afternoon as investors digested news that inflation had hit a near-14 year high of 7.7 percent, picked up enough steam to end the day up 29.42 points, or 0.48 percent, to close at 6,185.53.
