INFLATION could have accelerated anew in October due to higher food and commodity prices, and fare hikes, economists polled by The Manila Times said.

The median forecast among five analysts was 7.3 percent, within the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' (BSP) 7.1- to 7.9-percent estimate for the month and higher than the September result of 6.9 percent. Several echoed the BSP's projection that the rise in consumer prices would start trending downward.
