Bicol remembers departed sea creatures

LEGAZPI CITY: In the graveyard of whales and dolphins within the 15-hectare compound of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Barangay Fabrica in Bula town, Camarines Sur, residents light candles for the 14 sea creatures, mostly mammals, buried at the cetacean cemetery.

It has been nine years since the BFAR and other environmentalists started the practice of offering flowers and lighting up candles to remember the departed sea mammals.

The staff of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources put flowers and candles at the final resting place of the sea creatures that were stranded on the provincial shores. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
