DoJ eyes extradition of US pedophile

THE Department of Justice (DoJ) is looking into the possibility of extraditing to the Philippines the former US State Department employee who pleaded guilty to engaging in illicit sexual conduct in the country before an American court.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the Philippine government is still interested in having Dean Edward Cheves extradited to the Philippines after he admitted that he met Filipino minors over the internet while he was serving at the US Embassy in the Philippines from 2017 to 2021.
