AS Filipino journalists visiting Washington reported on October 27, an unnamed senior American defense official said the United States and the Philippines would add five bases to the five being opened to US forces under the 2014 Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) for American military buildup in our country.
The news comes amid other reported moves toward the EDCA's full implementation, including the provision of about P4 billion in US aid for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to spend on EDCA projects.
