SEN. Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go on Friday said the unveiling of the Jose Rizal Monument at the Avenida de las Islas Filipinas in Madrid, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Spain, was a fitting tribute to the rich history shared by both countries.
"I'm so happy to be here in Madrid. I was invited by the ambassador and the NHCP (National Historical Commission of the Philippines). I am happy because [Jose] Rizal is my idol and we share the same passion — love of country, love of our fellow Filipinos. I love my fellow Filipinos," Go said of the event organized by the Embassy of the Philippines in Madrid in coordination with the Ayuntamiento de Madrid and the NHCP.
