THE tug-of-war between First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez has turned personal and vicious of late. The unfortunate thing about this whole dirty, unfortunate episode is that the detractors of the First Lady are supporters of the President. They blame the First Lady for the eviction of Rodriguez from his perch, accusing her of undermining the former executive secretary.
Allow me to put the issue in context. But before the subject matter, a disclosure: First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos is a wedding godmother to one of my daughters. I played a small part in the 2016 failed vice presidential campaign of Marcos Jr. I also supported him in the 2022 presidential elections, in my own small way, but I was not an integral part of his campaign. I am not doing any PR work for the President or the First Lady. Like all other thinking Filipinos, I want President Marcos to succeed.
