Polymer banknotes to save BSP P2.4B

SHIFTING from paper to polymer banknotes will result in P2.4 billion in savings for the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), according to one of its officials.

During a Senate hearing on the matter last week, BSP Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan said that using polymer instead of paper for making banknotes would result in cheaper replacement costs and lower manufacturing costs.
