FII meet to unfold in Riyadh

RIYADH: Hundreds of CEOs (chief executive officers) and finance moguls are expected in Riyadh from Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) for a Davos-style investment conference that analysts say will highlight Saudi Arabia's geopolitical muscle despite strained ties with the United States.

The Future Investment Initiative (FII) was launched in 2017 as an economic coming-out party for the world's largest crude exporter, which is trying to diversify away from oil under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

STRICTLY BUSINESS Executive President of Future Investment Initiative Richard Attias talks during an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP) in Riyadh on Oct. 17, 2022. US government officials have not been invited to a Saudi investment conference planned for later this month, its organizer told AFP, saying he did not want the gathering ‘to become a political platform.’ AFP PHOTO
