THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday that Tropical Depression "Obet" has accelerated toward Luzon Strait and might reach tropical storm category either tonight or Saturday morning.
Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja told The Manila Times that Signal No. 1 is still up over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana and Gonzaga) in Luzon.
