Amazon Prime's 'The Rings of Power' and HBO's 'House of the Dragon' were released at the same time and went after pretty much the same audience — geeks, genre fans and those who wanted more of their respective, hugely successful franchises 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Game of Thrones.' Now that they're both wrapping up, it's time for everyone to safely weigh in and argue which one was worth their time.

I started out liking 'The Rings of Power' when the first two episodes were out. I liked the incredibly pretty visuals, but I didn't feel like I was watching Tolkien, just some very, very expensive fantasy product put out by Amazon. I saw it as an exciting Dungeons and Dragons campaign brought to life. Except as the show ran on, I felt less and less compelled to watch it, the writing and storytelling suffered.
