Filing a monetary claim against a former employer

Dear PAO,

I just recently lost my job after the company where I was working ceased its operations. My employer asked me to sign a quitclaim before they could release my final pay. I had no choice but to sign it since I needed to pay the tuition of my youngest son. Can I still file a monetary claim against my former employer?
