DAVAO CITY: Over a million peso worth of undocumented cigarettes were seized by the police and military at a checkpoint in Sirawan, Toril, Davao City at around 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday.

In a report from Task Force Davao, the authorities confiscated 2,050 reams of imported cigarettes valued at P1.025 million from four cargo delivery men onboard a white Isuzu Forward truck.

Authorities identified the suspects as Arturo Albania, 55; Glen Lumapas,46; Alvin John Elorcha, 27; and Nolven Reponte, 31. The suspects are residents of Sinawilan, Matanao and Davao del Sur.

The suspects and evidence were turned over to the Toril Police Station for the filing of charges in relation to violation of Republic Act 4712, an act amending certain sections of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines.
